The Weekender
The Hide&Seek Weekender is three days of games and playful experiences. Expect paranoia, glee, new connections and fun.

A year of Sandpits generates an awful lot of games! And the Weekender is a chance to play some of the best of them – and sometimes a few games that are new to us as well. There won’t be a Weekender in 2011, but keep your eyes on this website and the Hide&Seek Twitter account (@hidingseeking) for news and info about other up-coming adventures and opportunities to play.

Past Events

The Hide&Seek Weekender used to be the Hide&Seek Festival. There are a number of really good reasons for the change, which Alex will tell you if you ask him.

Last year Hide&Seek held the Weekender festival at the National Theatre from 9-11 July, in partnership with LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre). The weekend was packed full of games connected to internationality; there were maps, borders, passports, spies, translation, tourism and much more.

The 2009 Hide&Seek Weekender ran from 31st July to 2nd August at the Southbank Centre, London, combining gameplay with music, theatre, craft, cartography, balloons and more.

The 2008 festival ran in London from the 27th to the 29th of June, and encompassed everything from fine artists making location-based work to huge flashmob games within the public spaces of the Southbank Centre. As well as a range of low-tech, high-fun experiences from the Sandpit, artists including Momus, Blast Theory and Jane McGonigal brought things for us to play.
